Collectible Must-Haves: Starbucks Relief Mug Set

When you get something wrapped like this from Starbucks, you know that this won't be just an ordinary unboxing day.

And true enough, this was an extra special package that arrived because inside it was the set of 2 Starbucks Relief Mugs featuring Manila and Cebu!!!

These mugs are part of a limited edition series from Starbucks, this time in the form of sculptured mugs. These are not universally available so giving them away to foreign guests would be perfect souvenirs. Of course, because we also love our own country, they're great conversation pieces at home too.

The mugs are microwavable and dishwasher-safe aside from being great collectibles. Both mugs go for PhP 550 if bought in Starbucks stores around the country, but at the NAIA 1 outlet they retail for PhP 625.

To help you decide which one to get, I'll tell you a bit more about each one.

The Manila Starbucks Relief Mug

Just turn the Manila relief mug around and you'll enjoy seeing how the following places are featured -- Luneta Park, Paco Park, Philippine Post Office, Liwasang Bonifacio, National Museum, Palacio del Gobernador, Manila City Hall, Fort Santiago and the iconic Philippine mode of transporation, the Jeepney. Only the colorful jeepney, the tower of Manila City Hall, and a Starbucks logo have colors in them. The rest of the landmarks are embossed white on a black background.

The Cebu Starbucks Relief Mug

Cebu is the Queen City of the South so it's no wonder this is the second place to be featured after Manila. What immediately caught my eye was the colorful guitars. We all know Cebu is known for manufacturing guitars. In fact, we own one at home. The others in color too are Carbon Market (the oldest and largest farmer's market in Cebu City), a Santo Nino, and the Starbucks logo.

As you turn the mug, you'll find its famous landmarks -- Magellan’s Cross, Fort San Pedro, Basilica del Santo NiƱo, Halad Museum, Lapu-Lapu Bridge, Carbon Market and Mactan Shrine.

So….which mug are you getting? Still confused? Know what? GET BOTH. After all, they're a set! And if you still are contemplating breaking up this set, remember….buy them together or forever hold your regret. Haha!

Mike: I still see the Manila mug in some MM stores but I believe the Cebu mug must be bought in Cebu.
